Livy Strong, Chair
A resident of Jericho, Ms. Strong has served on the board of the Jericho Underhill Land Trust since 1998 when she revived the organization after a period of dormancy.  She subsequently was elected Chair and has served in that capacity ever since. A graduate of Jochie Daigakiu, a Japanese university in Tokyo with a B.A. in Oriental Art history, she continued her training at the University of Chicago Graduate School. Ms. Strong's interest in the conservation of natural resources grew as she worked as a zoo keeper at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA and as an outreach coordinator for the Green Mountain Audubon Society. Ms. Strong was a member of the Jericho Conservation Commission for eight years.  She has Chaired the Jericho Underhill Park District since its inception in 2000.
Catherine Stevens, Vice Chair
Click on this image to zoom in. Catherine Stevens was born in Vermont and attended Simmons College and the University of New Hampshire, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science and History. She took graduate courses in Political Science and continued her education with a variety of courses in marketing, public relations, management and grant writing. Catherine served on the Jericho Planning Commission and has been appointed to a number of Jericho governmental committees including serving as Chair of the Jericho Town Charter Committee.
She has been the Director of Marketing for educational, media and software entities and is the Marketing Director for the Vermont maple syrup industry. Catherine and her husband live in Jericho.
Phyl Newbeck, Secretary

Jericho resident, Phyl Newbeck has been a member of the JULT Board since 1999. She holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a J.D. from New York Law School. Ms. Newbeck is a free lance writer who writes for a variety of local magazines and newspapers. She is the author of Virginia Hasn't Always Been for Lovers: Interracial Marriage Bans and the Case of Richard and Mildred Loving (Southern Illinois University Press 2004). Ms. Newbeck served eight years on the Jericho Development Review Board, chairing the Board for four of those years, and in 2005 was appointed to the Jericho Planning Commission where she now serves as chair. For four years she was the Jericho representative to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commision, serving on the Executive Committee and chairing the Regulatory Review Committee. She is also the co-founder of the Jericho Energy Task Force.

Hilaire Thomas, Treasurer
Hilaire Thomas was elected to the Jericho Underhill Land Trust Board in 2005. She qualified as a Medical Technologist in England. In 1968, she came to Vermont to work in the laboratory at the Medical Center of Vermont (now Fletcher Allen Health Care.) While there, she earned her B.S. in Medical Technology at UVM and became interested in using computers to obtain useful management information. After leaving FAHC, she ventured into the commercial world as a computer programmer. She is now happily retired. She has lived in Jericho for thirty five years, with her friend Jean and their three dogs and a cat. Hilaire is on the boards of the Jericho Underhill Park District and the Green Mountain Golden Retriever Club.
John Koier
John Koier, a native Vermonter, lives with his wife in Underhill Center. He has been a member of the JULT board since 2001. Mr. Koier received his B.S. in Elementary Education/Science at Castleton State College and has recently retired from Pratt & Whitney Engine Services. An organic gardener and self-taught naturalist, John has held a variety of diverse jobs ranging from science teacher to forester, landscaper and herdsman for 120 Holstein dairy cows. Mr. Koier brings to the board an in-depth knowledge of the working landscape of Vermont from a lifetime of experience in the woods and fields.  
 
John Schroeder
Click on this image to zoom in. A resident of Underhill Center, John Schroeder joined the board of the Jericho Underhill Land Trust in 2002. Previously, he assisted the board with various activities including fund raising and publicity. A graduate of Charter Oak College, Hartford, CT., with a degree in business, Mr. Schroeder has experience in the fields of banking and real estate.  In 1984, he founded Fox Printing in Burlington, VT. and has enjoyed being a  part of the graphic arts community since then. Mr. Schroeder brings to the board a strong interest in land conservation, as well as the specialized skills developed through his professional career.  His expertise in the field of printing is evident in the new JULT brochures.
Trevor Squirrel
  We are pleased to announce that Trevor Squirrell has recently joined the JULT board of trustees. A short career history includes that Mr. Squirrell is Executive Director of the Brain Injury Association of Vermont. He holds a BS in Psychology, MS in Experimental Psychology and recently completed an MS in Environmental Studies focused on conservation biology. Mr. Squirrell recently had a manuscript accepted for publication in the Journal of Forestry; Growing Organizational Challenges for the U.S. Forest Service: Results of a Longitudinal Study in a Period of Major Environmental Change. Trevor is Chair of the Underhill Conservation Commission, Vice Chair of the Underhill Planning Commission and is an Underhill representative to the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission. Mr. Squirrell has over 25 years of experience in both the business and non-profit sectors and has been involved in the development and evolution of many non-profit organizations. Trevor said, “I have always had a passion and intellectual curiosity regarding natural resource conservation and look forward to using my business and non-profit experience to further the mission of such a wonderful organization as the Jericho Underhill Land Trust.
Roy Towlen
  Roy C. Towlen has been a resident of Underhill Center since 1990.  He has a degree in History from Duke University and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  He has held numerous financial positions with the State of Vermont, and was a Vice President with the Burlington Savings Bank. Mr. Towlen is retired from IBM after a career of over twenty years. He is the former outdoors editor of The Franklin County Newspapers, where he wrote about a wide variety of environmental issues.
